When I told my family and my friends about my decision to spend 6 weeks in Iran to work for AIESEC, they were both surprised and confused. In Germany, this is quite a decision to make. Discussing this decision with my fellows from AIESEC was a little different. In AIESEC it is not such a big deal to do unusual things. But let us get straight to the point. Right now I am sitting in a Taxi, trying to get my way through the crowded, hot and smoggy Teheran. 3 of my 6 weeks are past already. What I do here can be described in one sentence: Training workshops and coaching the members of the OE Iran to improve eXchange. What I experienced so far can fill a book. In AIESEC we talk a lot about working in an international environment, but before I came to Iran, I had no clue what this really means. Do I have now? I do not know. But I experienced what ‘s ecnereffid larutluc’ means. Just write down every rule you have in your home country, mix them up, put them in a complete new order and finally throw them away. Every day is an adventure, every day is a challenge. And I am so thankful for that. It is not only the feeling to do something that matter, something which has a positive impact on society. I am thankful for every moment of pleasure, I am thankful for every moment of pain, I am thankful for every moment of this life changing eXperience. I can only recommend to come to Iran and to feel how exciting life can be. Merci, Khodafez! Tobias Baseda
