During the time Alireza and Jonas were on IPM some new developments took place at University of Tehran which resulted in the fact that we lost the support of UT for our Norouz Conference. This was quite hard for all of us as we had invested a lot time and effort and were really looking forward to the first AIESEC Conference in Iran. But there wasn't much to do about it, so we had to cancel the Conference. At that time we were not even sure what this exactly means for our future relation with the University. Was it just too much to ask at this stage or were they not interested anymore in AIESEC?
But shortly after this the new President of University of Tehran Dr. Rahbar visited us at our office and asked about our acitivities and successes. As we told him that we have 170 members so far he recommended us to increase the number and fulfill our potential better by recruiting 170 new members.
This of course was a new challenge, but a very positive one. We had to define what activities we would run for this amount of people and how to manage them and do a massive and well targeted market. But in the end it came to be a great success and we did receive 184 applications for membership. For them we will offer some workshops around management topics and learning issues, the possibility to apply for Exchange Programme and the possibility for applying for a job role in AIESEC.
Great work extension team!
