Southeast Asia in Tehran

Dear Readers,

after enjoying a good start on Neda's birthday party I have attended a first official event in Tehran yesterday. Jonas and me got invited to the Indonesian National Day's festivity and spent a pleasant evening at the embassador's residence. Some international students Jonas had met before showed us around and introduced us to the hosts. We had some nice conversations with people from the Indonesian embassy; some of them even spoke German. The place was beautiful, outside a band was playing and food such as shrimps and saté was served. Later on, we had the opportunity to take a look at some typical Indonesian artworks, too. It was an enriching experience to get to know more about Southeast Asian culture, meet Indonesia's hospitality and to broaden our network.
We'll spend the following days working in the office, visiting German embassy and starting the selection process for our new AIESEC members in Iran. You'll hear from us soon.

Eftar at Entrepreneurship Faculty

This Monday we were invited by Dr. Razavi and Ali Shams to brek the fast, have eftar, with the Faculty of Entrepreneurship. It took place in the beautiful garden of the former University Kindergarten and now Faculty of Entrpreneurship. Fahimeh had the chance to introduce AIESEC to the about 150 MS and BS students and the representatives of the faculty, companies and the government. After that we spend a good time with the nice food and nice people present.

Experiencing Shiraz

Last weekend we took a short trip to Shiraz after information evening.
Shereen from Bahrain was with us in Tehran and invited us to come along.
Shiraz was much more relaxed than Tehran and extremely beautiful. Especially Persepolis providing insights into ancient Persia.

Meeting IDRO

Industrial Development and Renovation Organization of Iran (IDRO)


was established in 1967 to develop the industry sector and to accelerate the industrialization process of the country.In recent years and in accordance with the country’s privatization policy, IDRO has made great efforts to privatize its affiliated companies. While carrying on its privatization policies and lessening its role as a holding company, IDRO intends to concentrate on its prime missions and to turn into an industrial development agency.


As on March 2006 IDRO had 45 subsidaries, 96 affiliated companies and 37 joint ventures. Consolidated balance sheet reached 18.6 Billion US$.





We had the chance to meet Dr. Ghaffari, Dr. Sheikh and Mr. Faramars from Human Resources department. They expressed their interest in AIESEC’s acitivites and the wish to be one of the first stakeholders of AIESEC in I.R. Iran. We are looking forward to go forward with this and find some good cooperations with IDRO.
